Film & Movies

Star Wars Episode VIII won't be arriving in theaters until December 2017 so they weren't represented at this years Comic-Con convention in San Diego. That meant that this year it was all about superheroes, superheroes and some more superheroes. Of course, dude superheroes have now becoming boring mopes (hi, Affleck!) so that means audiences need something different - so this year it was ALL about kick-arse female superheros, buddy.

Yesterday, Brie Larsen was revealed to star as Captain Marvel and a few days before that, Gal Gadot kicked it off with a few teasers for all attending including a three minute preview reel of Wonder Woman (opening next June) and this teaser poster where she looks like she's modeling on a box of Indian Hair Oil.

Actually, this is a nice looking poster that I wouldn't mind owning. I love collecting movie posters. I own well over 2000 of them. I used to buy them from video rental stores every single week throughout the '90's up until recently when every video store within 300 miles of my city shut the hell down. That meant no more new posters for me every week. It would be nice if Superman could fly around the world and turn back time so I can get posters once more but nooooooo. Superman wasn't good enough to be included in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie so I guess that does that. All I want is another video store. Seriously, why can't there be a superhero who can make that happen? Lame.

Yep...Gal Gadot Is Pretty Hot.

Gal Gadot sent nerd pulses racing at this past weekend's Comic-Con event where audience members were treated to their first glimpse of Wonder Woman in action when the trailer for Batman v Superman was released. Gal wasn't featured in the trailer a whole lot unfortunately. Rather, Comic-Con attendees were forced to instead witness a glum, depressed, emotionless, dull Ben Affleck mumble a few words from his tired maw. And that was just from the live cast panel.

Here Is Gal Gadot As Wonder Woman.

Because the cast of The Big Bang Theory are keeping their agents busy trying to score their clients one million dollar raises before they return to work Wednesday, none of them were able to attend Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend. Turns out they weren't really missed at all because gracing the crowd with her presence was Megan Fox, making kissy-face to the nerds while promoting her newest botox injections Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Also on hand was the Game of Thrones panel (without pornstars) and this morning's presentation of Batman V Superman, featuring that movie's director Zack Snyder.

This morning Zack gave fans what they really wanted to see. Dry, fresh underwear. No, actually, Zack showed them the first image of Gal Gadot in her Wonder Woman outfit. As you can see, this isn't the traditional red, white, blue and gold Wonder Woman outfit that everyone is familiar with. This Wonder Woman is sporting a brown leather corset with knee high metal boots. Basically the type of thing Rihanna wears to Pinkberry.

Now, because we live in a world of complainers, some people are not happy with the new look. Just like they weren't happy when NBC unveiled the costume for their failed Wonder Woman TV series a few years back. As for me, I like the new outfit. I can see the movie's creators are trying to woo the video game crowd and most likely, that ploy will work. I'm all for originality. I'm afraid the team behind this concept wasn't so original however, when they decided to photoshop Naya Rivera's face onto Gal's body.

I have no idea whose Idea that was, but I have a feeling I know who the two people behind it might have been.

A year ago, rumors were circulating all over the internet that actresses ranging from Megan Fox, Gina Carano and even Kaley Cuoco (oh, dear God) were all in contention to land the role of Wonder Woman in Warner Bros. upcoming Batman Vs. Superman which opens next May. Eventually the role went to actress Gal Gadot, who appeared in a few of those Fast & Furious movies. The fan-boys must have been okay with this casting decision because so far there hasn't been any "Gadot not WW" websites pop up online like there was when Daniel Craig was announced as James Bond way back in 2006. I also assume Seth Green, the guy who played Oz on Buffy is okay with the casting of Gadot as well, although he wasn't pleased with Affleck cast as Batman. That's rough, man when 5'1 Seth Green doesn't approve of 6'1 Ben Affleck. I wonder if Ben had a good cry about that? Probably, which I'm sure no doubt ended when his hot co-star, Gal stepped onto the set in her Wonder Woman outfit which has just been described as thus,

From JoBlo:

This Wonder Woman is ripped right from the comics and has a “traditional, yet sleeker” costume that’s “battle ready.” She’ll have a blue leather skirt, silver-armored cuffs that reach to her elbows, golden tiara (with a design of some sort in the center, possibly the red star) and a variation of the traditional-looking red top (no word on additional armor on it). Her overall appearance is described as “Amazon warrior princess” and definitely not an urban re-imagining. She’s there to kick ass and that’s readily apparent. Word is that WB is getting a VERY positive response on her appearance to those they’ve shown it to. Her character will be introduced as “Diana” in the film initially before we ever see her as Wonder Woman. She will have a fair amount of screen time and will team up with Batman and Superman for the final battle against an un-named villain who may be working or controlled by Lex Luther. Her origin will be intentionally vague, but she is brought into the fold to show that there are other superheroes in the universe other than Superman.

See? there are other superhero in the universe other then Superman. There's the Avengers gang and there's Spider-Man and 20 years ago there was Fartman. Remember Fartman? Whatever happened to him? Who knows? Probably passed gas and blew Seth Green into space.

Anyway, this Wonder Woman costume they've designed for Gal sounds awesome. Much better than the outfit Adrianne Palicki donned for that failed NBC Wonder Woman pilot a few years back. A blue leather skirt? Oh, now you're talking, mister. I'm intrigued. Cuffs to her elbows? Sounds awesome. A golden tiara? Ok, I'm not so sure about that. I mean, if I wanted to see a woman in a tiara every night I'd just peek through Jennifer Love Hewitt's windows while she's in the bathtub.

Gal Gadot Has Been Cast As Wonder Woman.

Hollywood has been trying to bring Wonder Woman to the big screen for 20 years now and at one point they were close to having Sandra Bullock sign on as the character. Well, that never happened because The Phantom came out in the mid-nineties and after that horrifying disaster, Hollywood didn't want to touch any comic book superheroes for another seven years, until Spider-Man came out in 2002. Then around three years ago Hollywood attempted to bring Wonder Woman to television, but that came to a halt once the fanboys saw a glimpse of the outfit and screamed and screamed about how everything about it was wrong. That's how it is. Once the fanboys start whining, then Hollywood listens. I never expected that show's prolific executive producer David E. Kelley to bow down to fanboy geek pressure but he just created The Crazy Ones so who the hell knows what's going on with him these days? Have you seen that stupefying show? Wonder Woman never say the light of day yet The Crazy Ones just got a full season pickup!? Sounds like someone has some dirt on CBS executive Les Moonves and that's the only explanation I have regarding that situation. Also, please send the dirt my way so I can use it as leverage to get that show off the air. Tank ya, kindly.

Many of Hollywood's biggest female names were mentioned as possible candidates to land the role of Wonder Woman the past few years including Megan Fox, that Jamie Alexander chick and even Jennifer Lawrence (!?), but today it was announced that 28 year old Israel-born actress Gal Gadot has been cast in the iconic role. Gadot is a former model who competed for Israel in the 2004 Miss Universe pageant. She has co-starred in a number of the Fast & Furious movies, including this past summer's Fast & Furious 6. She's also really hot - but I'm sure that had nothing to do with it.

From Deadline: Warner Bros and Zack Snyder have found their Wonder Woman. They’ve cast Israeli-born actress Gal Gadot in the iconic role and she will be part of Batman Vs. Superman, the film that will see Henry Cavill square off with Ben Affleck. Gadot has been in three Fast & Furious films, as well as Knight And Day and Date Night. Given that Warner Bros has bolstered its starpower with Affleck and has Cavill returning from the summer hit Man Of Steel, it makes sense to groom new stars in the supporting roles, the way that Marvel has done. All this is clearly gearing toward the long-awaited Justice League film, all based on the DC Comics characters.

So, Ben Affleck gets to dress up in black rubber and roll around with Gal in her leather boots and tight red and blue latex outfit for the better part of four months. I'm sure his wife Jennifer Garner is thrilled about this. The title of the movie, directed by Man Of Steel's Zack Snyder is Batman Vs. Superman so I'm not sure where Wonder Woman fits into all this. Batman Vs. Superman and then the victor gets to take Wonder Woman out on a date? Um..okay. I hope they film a scene where they dine and dash though because I've seen a lot of superhero movies but I've never seen them carry any cash on them. What's that about?
